Chalten Kayak

It is an experience that takes place in the Río de las Vueltas. This river belongs to the Santa Cruz River basin. A significant portion of the waters of the Río de las Vueltas are of glacial origin, partly coming from the melting of glaciers in the northern area of the PNLG. It rises in the Desert Lake, at an altitude of 506 meters above sea level, and flows into the Viedma Lake at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level.

The activity we propose is kayak navigation, for which we will use double seat-on-top kayaks and touring kayaks for experienced clients.

The experience begins at the Comarka Rafting & Kayak operational base located at Av. San Martin 872, El Chalten, where the guides will receive the passengers and provide them with the equipment (technical and safety) and a talk about its use.

Once the equipment has been delivered and the group has changed, they travel 21 km along RP 41 on the way to Lago del Desierto. Once we arrive at the starting point of the activity (Mirador Laguna Condor), the group will get out of the vehicle to finish putting on their clothing (jacket, vest and helmet) and after the technical and safety talk they will begin the activity from the right bank of Laguna Condor.

This section of the river is characterized by being shallow and meandering. We will travel about 12km, which will take one hour and ½ to two hours (depending on the river flow and wind conditions) until we reach our disembarkation point, Estancia Bonanza. Once there, the group can get dressed and then enjoy a delicious lunch at Estancia Bonanza. After lunch, the transfer will take you back to El Chalten at approximately 3:00 p.m.

If you do NOT take lunch (which is optional) a transfer will take you back to the town at approximately 1:00 p.m.

Afternoon departure: meeting at 2:30 p.m. at the operational base (San Martin 872). Return to the town at approximately 7:00 p.m.
